The joyful celebration of Rosh Hashsnah is followed on September 15 with Yom Kipper, the Day of Atonement. It is the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. This is a day of self examination, fasting, prayers, and repentance with an awareness of a future judgment. Joel 2:1 “Blow the trumpet in Zion and sound an alarm…” We need to understand this was and is a wakeup call…a time to examine our lives, make things right with God and others, and be ready to stand before God.
Read Leviticus 16. The people repented, and their sins were confessed over a goat who carried their sins into the wilderness. An offering was made to the Lord and the people and temple were cleansed.
HOORAY! The Good News is we no longer need a scapegoat or animal sacrifices. As we reconcile with God and one another, we not only receive forgiveness through Jesus Blood, but also restoration!
Read in Joel 2 all our wonderfulthings God has promised to do for us!
23 Double Portion – anointing
24 Financial Abundance – resources
25 Restoration – what been stolen
26 Miracles – as we praise Him
27 God’s Presence
28 Blessing upon family
32 Deliverance
Prepare for this holy day! Repent, forgive others, pray over an offering and be ready to receive God’s forgiveness and restoration!
