Not all “close encounters” are good. This afternoon I wanted to read something printed in extremely small type. Rather than straining and squinting my eyes, I put on those kind of magnifying reading glasses. All was going well until my pen fell to the floor. I quickly bent down to retrieve it, and suddenly found myself in another world. Yikes!
This was a world of dirt, hair balls, dust, colorful spots and unidentifiable stains. What an offensive affront to my cleaning skills! I simply could not believe all this filth was able to withstand my zealous housekeeping efforts. I removed the glasses….everything looked better now; back to “normal”.
Then I saw it. This is how we live our lives. Everything looks great on the surface, but what about up close? Most of the time we aren’t even aware of what lies beyond our “normal” appearance. Are we like the emperor who was naked, but everyone complimented him on
being so well dressed? Is this how we see ourselves and each other? Can we really be so blind?
I hope not, but if so, there is One who opens the eyes of the blind. There is One who doesn’t need magnifying glasses to see our heart and know our motives. Even more amazing is the truth that this One who sees to the very depth of our innermost being , loves us.
Yah, a Lover who looks past our housekeeping….beyond the dirt of deception , the filth of pornography, the stains of lies, etc and declares unfailing love for the housekeeper.
I did pick up my pen but was still thinking about how God really sees us. Just in the moment of a sudden barrage from the enemy reminding me of a sin-filled past….TA DAH! The Spirit of Truth intercepted with the reminder. It was for this the One Son died…that His Father,
would see me through His Son. How does He see you?
